Fountain's growth subdivisions, Countryside, Cross Creek, and the Fountain Mesa area among them, went up from the 1990s onward with stucco field walls and stone veneer on the front elevation. Those homes crack at window and door corners as the framing moves and at the control joints. Water gets in and the crack telegraphs a stain. Stucco repair closes it. Stucco painting over an elastomeric-compatible system keeps it closed.

Older Fountain, the blocks around the historic Main Street district and the 1970s and 80s ranches around it, is frame construction with lap or hardboard siding. Lower elevation means hotter surface temperatures on south and west walls through summer, which shortens film life. House painting on those homes needs full scrape and prime on failed areas, then two coats minimum, scheduled so each coat cures before nightfall.
